The Memory Librarian_FINAL COVER

Delighted to (finally!) be able to share that I’m one of the five collaborators in Janelle Monáe’s The Memory Librarian and Other Stories of Dirty Computer, out April 2022 from Harper Collins! You can pre-order here.

Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2021 is out! It features two (!!) of my stories, “The Rat” (One Story) and “Our Language” (A Public Space). Thanks to the wonderful folks at Apex Magazine, “The Rat” is available to read online! 🐀

We’re also getting settled, finally, in lovely Palo Alto. We’re dreamily (giddily!) settling into a Stegner fellowship routine here at Stanford.

I’m a newly-minted Emerging Critic at the National Book Critics Circle! I’m also so grateful to be part of the inaugural class for Periplus, a new mentorship program for emerging writers of color (applications for the new cohort opening up soon). In the meantime, I’m so lucky to drink up Reyna Grande’s wisdom every month, and I’m really looking forward to her new novel, A Ballad of Love and Glory (March 2023).

More exciting news on the horizon; stay tuned!

2020

In the era of COVID-19, I spent a lot of time despairing and having long conversations with my dog.

2019

After three years of invigorating and wonderful study, I completed my MFA last May! I’m really proud of the progress I’ve made as a writer, and ever-grateful to my thesis readers, Dolen Perkins-Valdez and Rachel Louise Snyder, for encouraging me and challenging me in all the right ways (my thesis won the Myra Sklarew Award for prose).

In the summer of 2019, I spent six glorious, challenging weeks among some of the best writers and humans I’ve ever met at Clarion 2019 in San Diego. I wrote some stories I’m really proud of and got to read some AMAZING fiction. I can’t wait to see these stories out in the world.
